Fly on the Wall Podcast (Live) with Dana Carvey and David Spade and Special Guest Will Ferrell, Monday, January 30, 2023
An amazing way to start the week – three Saturday Night Live alums, two of them being the sketch comedy giant’s most innovative character creators, join forces for Largo’s sense of charity, this time focusing on Cancer for College. Carvey and Spade host an insider-y comedy podcast, with Spade turning up the volume of snark, and my guess is, when live, this Fly is unzipped and unhinged. As long as Carvey doesn’t focus on the Church Lady stuff, or the George Bush imitations, we’ll be fine.

Broads at 1812 Productions, Tuesday, January 31, 2023
1812 Productions co-founder Jennifer Childs, currently and forever this comedy company’s Producing Artistic Director, has done this sort of thing before: take an icon – Woody Allen. Neil Simon, Steve Martin, Nichols & May – distill and dissect the best from each comedic artist and curate a new show around those legends’ laugh lines. This time, Childs picks up on the great comedic Broads of the 1920s and 30s, vaudeville’s Sophie Tucker, film writer and actor Mae West and stand-up comedy avatar Moms Mabley, and presents them as prescient, empowered women whose work is more relevant now than ever.

Jesus Trejo, Wednesday, February 1, 2023
The pride of Long Beach, California, stand-up comedian Jesus Trejo has been making big kahuna waves since his first hour stand-up special for Showtime and his time on Netflix’s Mr. Iglesias. Lots of parent jokes of which he seems to old for at present, but a good joke is a good joke, so….

Dan Soder, Thursday, February 2, 2023
Is Dan Soder a dramatic actor playing a stand-up comedian or a stand-up doing lines like an actor? The New York City based comedian known as ‘Mafee’ on the Showtime dramatic series Billions – also a cohost on Sirius XM’s nightly The Bonfire with Big Jay Oakerson – is a handsome guy making amiable, handsome guy comedy. All depends on the night how funny this cat is.

Paul Virzi, Thursday, February 2, 2023
Bill Burr’s stand-up comedian co-host for the weekly podcast, “Anything Better,” Paul Virzi has his own thing going on despite Burr’s presence in presenting Paul Virzi: I’ll Say This on Comedy Central. Virzi Man habits-focused and sports-centric stand-up comedian Virzi also has Pete Davidson’s ear as he produced Paul’s second special, Nocturnal Admissions. Plus, he has also written jokes for ESPN’s ESPY Awards. Lots of football humor. Hmm.

Kelsey Cook, Friday, February 3, 2023
I love that there is a bio out there on stand-up comedian Kelsey Cook that starts with her the daughter of an international yo-yo champion and a professional foosball player, but doesn’t say which parent did what? Boo ya. Anyway, along with being a pro baller herself, Cook has her way with marsh-hellowing comedy commentaty on her own “Self-Helpless” podcast with fellow comedians Taylor Tomlinson and Delanie Fischer where she takes no prisoners and suffers no fools.

Sophie Buddle, Saturday, February 4, 2023
Like a multi-headed hydra from Mem in Black, peel back the first layer of wet flesh and you’ll find that Canadians are not like we in the United States. Proof: Canadian stand-up comedian Sophie Buddle whose live comic album A Lil Bit of Buddle, is as icy and jagged as her hometown of Ottawa itself. After having listened to the warmly humorous podcast Obsessed (cohosted with her girlfriend fellow comedian Mayce Galoni), my guess is that Buddle’s new stand-up bits are pretty succinctly cutting.

Alingon Mitra, Sunday, February, 5, 2023
Speaking of Canada, here’s nice guy stand-up comedian Alingon Mitra hanging out in Toronto with his Last Comic Standing pedigree, his writing credits for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Adam Ruins Everything, and The Harvard Lampoon and his short, sharp TikTok worthy routines.
