Megan Stalter and Friends, Monday, December 19, 2022

All the way from the other coast, comedian and YouTube video sensation Megan Stalter brings an angst ridden, New York City brand of energy to LA. Here’s a scary description of her videos, however, in case you are the trigger warning type: Stalter specializes in desperate, deluded characters who are prone to theatricality, frequent mispronunciations, and botched suicide attempts.” See that would only want to me see someone more – like watching a car crash happen in slow motion.

Patti Harrison Presents… Santa Claus Cums Hyaluronic Acid into Your Stocking if You’re NAUGHTY, Retinol if You’re NICE, Tuesday, December 20, 2022

patti harrison

I would never repeat two venues in one week’s listing, but stand-up comedy’s flatline-voiced comedian/chameleon actor known from Shrill on Hulu (and the film Together Together) has the guts to use “Santa Claus cum” as part of an add for her next show.

Chris Trani, Wednesday, December 21, 2022

Caustic Chicago comedian Chris Trani isn’t just a top-notch stand-up. He’s a Windy City wonder renowned for his lofty, humorous readings, storytelling and spoken work stuff as a winner of National Public Radio’s The MOTH and the nationwide SNUBFEST Comedy Festival for Storytelling. Plus, he can do his entire act in Spanish if you need him to – sensational, that.

Ron White, Friday, December 23, 2022

Once a quarter of the Larry the Cable Guy’s four-man Southern Comfort crew, the always sartorially splendid Ron White was the gentleman joker of the bunch, a Wily Coyote-like comic that always nailed his prey with weird warm sarcastic humor and long, poignant storytelling. Plus, White has had two Grammy nominations, two of the top-rated specials in Comedy Central history and over 10 million in CD and DVD sales. Now that’s getting ur done, whatever ur is.

With most Catholics staying at home with cocoa and cinnamon everything, the Upper East Side’s top tier home to stand-up comedy is actually having fun. Merry Schtickmas is hosting a two-show handful of happily sarcastic Jewish comedians such as Ethan Herschenfeld (Netflix) Holly Weiss (Stand-Up Girls) and Talia Reese (Comedy Central) at 7 and 10 pm events.

A Swinging Birdland Christmas with Jim Caruso, Billy Stritch and Klea Blackhurst, December 25, 2022

Vocalist-host Jim Caruso, pianist-singer Billy Stritch and Broadway belter Klea Blackhurst not only sold a boatload of their original “Christmas at Birdland” when it first dropped in 2019 (a Billboard Number 1 at that). Their newly-released “Christmas at Birdland Deluxe Version” features even more holiday songs, freshly recorded. So why is a snazzy, jazzy Swinging Birdland Christmas event in my comedy list? Having witnessed their annual Christmas showcase, I can testify that these three – and their musicians – are having THE most fun on any stage in New York City, and that the jokes, toasts and roasts will fly faster than hot chestnuts. Plus, the bartenders at Birdland pour a stiff, warming cocktail at the holiday. Tip heavy.
