The Best Philadelphia Eagles related Sports Bars to watch Saturday’s (First) Big Game

sportsbar

With the 2023 NFL playoffs off to a mean weekend start on Saturday, and the New York Giants forced to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on the Birds’ home turf at the Lincoln Financial field, those who don’t have tickets have only one question: where the hell can I drink to Philadelphia football and surefire victory?

That isn’t my house?

To that, Philadelphia Weekly offers up a list of the best locations and finest drink concepts geared around the Eagles victory.

Tinsel Takes Flight, 116 S. 12th Street, Philadelphia, PA

From the same Teddy Sourias, Craft Concepts Group “team” that brought you the revolving door themed Nightmare Before Tinsel and Tinsel Christmas Pop-Up Bar, there is the bleeding green of Tinsel Takes Flight – the city’s first-ever Philly sports fan theme pop-up bar and experience. Along with Eagles-related memorabilia, original art installations, sports murals, light installations and Instagram-worthy photo opportunities, there is a Philly-centric footballer food menu – Hurts So Good, Weapon X, Swole Batman, Philly Especial, The Graham Sacker, The Hungry Dog – and more specialty brews (Free Will Dreams & Nightmares and Flying Fish Go Birds) than Oktoberfest. Plus, massive television screens, so you can actually slow down on the booze and watch the big game.

Xfinity Live!, 1100 Pattison Avenue, Philadelphia, PA

If you can’t be inside the Linc, the next best place to watch the game is right outside the Linc, across the block at Xfinity Live!, Yes, there’re serving NFL playoff games the city’s largest TVs at 32’, and yes, a live DJ will more than likely spin “Fly Eagles Fly” and their new Christmas album on repeat, Also you can sit outside the Broad Street Bullies Pub if you really like hockey on this day. Bozo.

Eagles Spirit Day at Adventure Aquarium, 1 Riverside Drive, Camden, NJ

I’m not sure how much drinking you can sneak in around the fish and the flora, but, the nearest located aquarium across the river is hosting an afternoon for the kids, encouraging all to rep their green and white while exploring the deep blue, and win a set of player-signed photos. Treat the kiddies. Bring a flask.

CO-OP Restaurant & Bar, 20 S 33rd Street, Philadelphia, PA

It’s a college bar and restaurant in-between University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University, so rivalry is already in the air. That CO-OP also has an organically raised and locally sourced vibe to it makes it totally Philly – so go for the Green Blistered Shishito Peppers and Green Garlic Hushpuppies the wash it down with several tall Citywides.

Evil Genius Beer Co., 1727 N Front Street, Philadelphia, PA

First off, the toast of Fishtown craft breweries already has a Fly Like an Eagle water ice inspired milkshake-style IPA on its Lab menu from the start, in all of its 6.2% ABV mango and, or blue raspberry flavorings. Fine. To go with that, Evil Genius is debuting Playoffs!?! in six states across the East Coast, a flush, new flavorful, full bodied IPA that is titled by its Lab technicians as a “creamsicle without the brain freeze” with all of the natural orange and vanilla flavors, and “juicy Azaaca and Motueka hops and an ABV of 7.0% .” I want the brain freeze, man. It’s the Giants we’re up against. Freeze me.

Patchwork, 1620 Chancellor Street, Philadelphia, PA

New American cuisine on the 2nd floor of Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia, just got some Eagles fever flavor with its Burger, Beer and Shot for $25 special – with Chef Jonathan Dearden more than likely turning the Cambozola cheese and the marmalade and lemon garlic mayo into something Eagles Green, AND that the pint of beer and locally distilled shot of whiskey will bring you to some form of self-victory no matter what occurs at the Linc. Plus, Patchwork will be streaming all divisional games in addition to the main attraction, Eagles vs Giants. Yes.

Owowcow Creamery, five locations: Ottsville, PA; Wrightstown, PA; Easton, PA; Chalfont, PA; and Lambertville, NJ

Maybe drinking isn’t your thing. WTF? But to each his own. There is always the sweet creamy Owowcow “New Philly Special” – a football shaped dessert with handcrafted sweet honey cream ice cream, Dock Street Brewery Porter fudge, and layers of handmade soft pretzel cookie dough and dark chocolate.  Wait, so you won’t drink liquor but you’ll ingest enough sugar to wreak havoc on your electrolytes and fatten up your arteries. OK.

Gopuff delivery

The stoners delight delivery service Gopuff has a limited-time offer on “Spread Eagles Formation Ice Cream”— an exclusive collaboration with Philly’s 1-900-ICE-CREAM, designed with cake batter ice cream, chocolate ganache ripples and peanut butter swirl. The there’s Hello Donuts new custom flavor -the Philly special (marble cheesecake flavored), The Sirriani (cannoli inspired), The Batman (Oreo cookies and cream) or The Link (mint chocolate chip). Cripes.

Chickie’s & Pete’s,1526 Packer Avenue, Philadelphia, PA

When all else fails, there is the original South Philadelphia sports and crab fries salon with GoBirds’ wing specials, big, American label brews and oversized television screens. The best bet is always the most traditional one.
