The Scene: Independence Seaport Museum’s Parade of Lights

Whew, boy.

We’re only a week (or two, depending on when you read this) into December and already we’re starting to feel our holiday spirit flagging.

Not that it’s gone the way of Krampus or anything (which is to say, probably still necessary, but undeniably anachronistic – and really, who are we to say whether bad children should be stuffed into sacks and beaten with reeds by a mythological half-goat demon, let alone to what extent the holiday spirit can really, truly reside in the well-being of a human? It’s certainly not the bright beacon it once was in the starry-eyed days of the not-so-long ago.

But we’ll persevere. And with that said…

Gather the family. Call up your friends. Bundle up tight and head out to the Independence Seaport Museum for its annual Parade of Lights, where a succession of actual working boats decked out in holiday cheer will be sure to wow as they meander along the Delaware River.

Heck, even Santa will be there.

And really, what better time to seek out a renewed holiday spirit — or make a request to ol’ Saint Nick of an extra special present – maybe a new iPhone X or, just spitballing, damningly obvious evidence of something that starts with “c” and ends with “ollusion?”

It doesn’t even need a bow.
