Hosted by the Philadelphia Jazz Legacy Project and the fifth in an online series focusing on the many aspects of jazz in Philadelphia, past and present. This discussion is about some of Philly’s finest bassists. So we have on hand TWO of Philly’s finest bassists to talk about them. This Philly Jazz Talk will feature bassist Mike Boone, alumnus of the Buddy Rich Big Band, long-time collaborator with Ben Vereen, and a major mentor of Philly bassists for many years. Also on tap is bassist Gerald Veasley, alumnus of Joe Zawinul’s Weather Report, the McCoy Tyner group, Pat Martino, and is the founder of his popular Bass Boot Camp. The Philadelphia bassists these two powerhouses will be talking about are as follows: Arthur Harper, Charles Fambrough, Jimmy Garrison, Derrick Hodge, Victor Bailey, and Tyrone Brown. If you want to learn more about Philly jazz history, please join us!
This event is free to everyone who registers.
This zoom event will be hosted by Dr. Suzanne Cloud, singer and project director.
Once you sign up, you will be sent a link a day prior to the event!
